Fee Schedule and Costs
"This day extracts a heavy toll." Thanos, the Mad Titan.
We acknowledge that spending time with an attorney can be expensive. We aim to be upfront about pricing below. Rates and fees current as of October 2022 and may change. Your engagement letter may have different terms if you hire us to serve as your attorney.
Probate and Letters Testamentary
And Other Probate / Determination of Heirship / Chain of Title Work
Billed at $450/hour + court costs.
No charge for initial consultation and fee estimate.
A probate case can range from $4,000 to $10,000+ depending on case complexity (e.g., Will defects, feuding beneficiaries, income and estate tax issues).
We fully acknowledge that we are not the cheapest attorneys in town. If your case is particularly simple we will let you know so you get can quotes from other attorneys.

Many of our clients are very competent and organized. In those cases we keep legal fees down by providing To Do Lists for clients so we limit our time to "attorney only" work.

Attempt at humor: we ARE blood thirsty attorneys, but we only want to be paid if we are helping you.
Wills, Trusts, and Estate Planning
Includes Disability Planning, Limited Asset Protection
We charge a flat fee based on case complexity. Base charge for a new estate plan is $3,000 (single) and $5,000 (married).
We like to discount our prices for young couples and simple cases so the price you pay is related to the work done.

Included in typical estate plan:
1. Will (and Trust if warranted)
2. Disability planning documents (e.g., powers of attorney)
3. Estate and asset diagram to help Executor and family
4. Assistance with beneficiary designations, deeds (if warranted)
5. Folder to keep original documents organized
6. USB flash drive to hold electronic copies of your documents
7. Meeting/call with attorney to ensure your documents are personalized to your situation and goals
Estate, Gift, and Fiduciary Taxes
IRS Forms 706, 709, and 1041
Billed at $450/hour + costs.

If you have a trusted CPA capable of doing estate, gift, and fiduciary returns, it is possible your CPA will charge less than we do as we lack the support staff and economies of scale of a fully staffed accounting firm.

We are happy to be of assistance to your CPA. Otherwise, we are glad to be of service preparing estate, gift, and fiduciary returns to keep you in compliance with the IRS and minimize taxes!
